Varaignes is a small village typical of the Dordogne, a region in the southwest of France. Located in the Regional Natural Park Perigord-Limousin, our village celebrates many traditions of conviviality and is proud to preserve its pristine environment.
When you come to spend your next vacation in France, you may stay at a gîte, visit a few châteaux, and taste some red wine. But ask yourself: After your trip what stories will you have to tell your friends and family? Did you really get to experience everyday life, get to know a new and fascinating culture, have some real French adventures?
We encourage you to travel differently!
"Salut Varaignes!" is a unique French immersion program where you soak in the culture, learn the language and make new friends in an authentic, stress-free environment. In Varaignes, you will interact meaningfully with people of all walks of life who are proud to be your local ambassadors.
The Association "Demain en main" is composed of residents of the village of Varaignes. Some of us are from families that have lived for centuries in this part of the Dordogne. Others have fled Paris and Bordeaux for the tranquility of the countryside. Still others – Americans, Germans, British, Dutch – have discovered Varaignes while exploring the Southwest of France.
Our professional backgrounds are just as varied. We are/were high school teachers, artists, farmers, pilots, attorneys, nurses, builders, language instructors, store keepers, real estate agents, musicians, gardeners, librarians, photographers, restaurant owners, film producers, university professors, bakers, computer geeks ...
What we have in common is our love of Varaignes, this little (almost) undiscovered jewel in the heart of the Périgord-Limousin National Park. To share our love and pride with travelers like you we'd like to invite you to be a part of "Salut Varaignes!".
